Papers of a University of Wisconsin law professor, containing research materials collected for a study conducted with Stewart Macaulay of the protests, both lawful and illegal actions, against the war in Vietnam, and on governmental response to those protests at the national, state, and local levels. The papers consist of questionnaires sent to several hundred anti-war and peace groups in the United States, as well as associated correspondence, clippings, and legal documents. The collection also contains clipping files arranged by subject consisting of data gathered during and immediately after the period in which particular protests occurred. Other information includes correspondence with and information from university administrators, city officials, police departments, lawyers, protest groups, and others.
