Minutes of the meetings held April 2-June 13, 1863 to form the Union League of the Town of Sylvester, Green County, Wis. to support the government in suppressing the rebellion, and a resolution to record the names of traitors ("copperheads") who gave aid and comfort to the enemy. The same book contains a Sutherland family record beginning with the marriage of William Sutherland and Hannah Avery (1720) and containing allied surnames of Stanley, Sylvester, and Wessel, some of whom appear on the Union League membership list.
