An interview with Harold (Hal) Johnson in Lancaster, Wis. conducted on June 25, 1992 by Kathryn Borkowski of the Historical Society staff. The interview focuses on Johnson's memories of World War II, including his attempt to gain conscientious objector status, his eventual deferment for his work on penicillin with a chemical company, wages, rationing, and other aspects of life on the homefront during the war. The interview also covers Johnson's career as a chemist, marketing director, and professor; his brothers' experiences seeking CO status (one of them went to prison); and his affiliation with the Christadelphians. In addition to a transcript of the tape-recorded interview, the collection includes a booklet about the Christadelphians and two photographs of Johnson and his wife, Betty.
