(while first a member of the 5th Wisconsin Infantry, Co. E, and later a sergeant in the 13th Battery of the Wisconsin Light Artillery), and service and pension records. Related family material includes letters from cousin Ann Thorngate in England, a letter from George's sister Hannah while visiting relatives in Michigan, and George's letters to Hannah while he was at Milton Academy. There are also three photographs, including a portrait of George with his wife Arloiena.
