Papers consisting of correspondence, reminiscences, and articles relating to Halvor L. Skavlem's activities as a naturalist and anthropologist in southern Wisconsin, the Indian Chief White Crow, and family matters; a record book of the Carcajou Club of Lake Koshkonong, 1897-1903, a hunting organization; a book of memorabilia of the Skavlem family, 1806-1903; and an address made at the unveiling of a marker to the memory of White Crow and his village at Lake Koshkonong, Jefferson County, Wis., 1916.

The photographs are halftone proofs of reproductions of photographs and a sketch of unidentified rural residential buildings, thought to be associated with the family of Skavlem, Janesville, Wis., ca. 1925. The sketch reproduced is annotated "Lars H. Skavlem home; Halvor Nilssen Aae[?]'s house, 1852. Sketch from memory, HLS."
