Photostat copies of items primarily related to treaties made with the Menominee and Winnebago Indians of Wisconsin. Included are notes summarizing speeches made by Chief Oshkosh, Man-ban-za, Little Wave, and other Menominee leaders on the treaty of 1836, with comments on their dress; an 1841 letter from Winfield Scott to A. C. Dodge in the House of Representatives regarding 1832 and 1840 treaties with the Winnebago, their violation of them by going too far south, and Governor Henry Dodge's possible involvement in permitting their action; and a petition by members of a convention of representatives of Milwaukee County settlements sent to Congressional delegate G. W. Jones, asking him to protect the interests of current land holders and settlers.
