Scattered papers of Olive Ward, a woman born in Woodland (Sauk Co.), Wisconsin, who grew up in Wonewoc and Holcombe, Wis., and moved with her family to homestead near Chance, South Dakota. Included are her reminiscences transcribed by Dale and Don Ellis in 1978-1979 and 1986; obituaries of Ward's mother and grandmother (1912, 1924); a letter (1923) to Ward from her grandmother Ann Sherman; two editions (n.d., 1952) of the "Sherman Family Tree" about the descendants of Leonard and Anna Whitford Sherman, compiled by Rachel Holt Redington; notes about the Voorhes and Sherman families; and photographs. The reminiscences provide some Voorhes family history and describe daily life, music, recreation, fishing, farming, Wonewoc, Holcombe, and the move to South Dakota. The photographs consist of Wonewoc and Holcombe views in addition to portraits of family members
