Papers of Zarnott concerning his union and civic involvements in the Oshkosh, Wis. area. An employee since 1928 at "the Axel," initially Oshkosh's Wisconsin Parts Company which became the Timkin Detroit Axel Company and later the North American Rockwell Company, Zarnott helped establish Local 291, United Auto Workers there in 1937 and served as its president, 1939-1947. Appointed international representative for the UAW's Region 10 in 1948, he serviced about thirteen plants in the Fox River Falley until his retirement in 1968. Included are scattered national and regional UAW documents, materials concerning his retirement, records of the Oshkosh-Fond du Lac Area UAW Retired Members Council, leave requests from "the Axel" due to his Region 10 duties, and a few newsclippings with biographical information.

There are also committee records of the Oshkosh Area United Fund concerning fund allocations for the 1965/66 and 1968/69 budget years. Included are project proposals and background information for a variety of social service agencies in the region.
