Records of a group founded on an informal basis in August, 1977 by a group of women employed by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Social Services who sought to change the personnel practices of the department which they believed discriminated against women and minorities. Later that year, they organized on a more formal basis. In 1978 the group filed a formal complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission charging the Department of Health and Social Services with sex discrimination. These records primarily document this action.
