Miscellaneous records of the Paymaster General deposited in the office of the Secretary of State. Included are correspondence, records of amounts owed to various claimants, record of stoppages of officers' salaries, vouchers for disbursements for transportation of furloughed soldiers, price estimates of supplies, abstracts of payments to state surgeons, and a ledger of receipts and disbursements. The latter item was probably prepared for the claim Wisconsin submitted to the federal government for its expenditures during the Civil War. It records the name of the payee, the voucher number, the date, and the amount of payment.

The Paymaster General's office was officially closed in July, 1862, as by that time the federal government had taken over most of its responsibilities. Unfinished business of the Paymaster General was taken over by the state Quartermaster General.
