Records of insanity decisions (1859-77, 1892-95) made by County Court Judge include: judge's decision based on recommendations; judge's orders releasing persons no longer judged insane; judge's order granting guardianship of insane persons; guardians' accounts. Other cases include: wife abandonment; dependant child; appointment of guardians for "spendthrifts," and judge's order forcing individuals in the poorhouse. The results of an 1892 jury trial on sanity are included (pp. 1-103, 222-227, 366-369). Later records (1879-1936) contain only names of insane persons and doctors; date of application for judgment and date of judgement; remarks on release, transfer, parole or death of insane person. 1898-1936 records include date of commitment and institution. (pp. 200-221, 228-271).
