These programs show teachers the many ways they can use formative assessments in the subject areas and grade levels they teach, demonstrating the five key elements of formative assessment that every teacher needs to know. Disc 1 includes scenes in elementary school mathematics and language arts. Disc 2 includes scenes in middle school science, mathematics, Spanish and history. Disc 3 includes scenes in high school humanities, mathematics, and design classrooms. Teachers use formative assessments to: discover their students' prior knowledge; check for understanding; choose the most effective instructional strategies; and gauge the progress of their students.
