According to the United Nations, there are 375,000 Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, most of whom live in poverty. This program follows a Palestinian doctor working in the PLO-funded Haifa hospital in Burj el-Barajneh refugee camp, Beirut. She earns $200 per month and she is forbidden in any Lebanese hospital. Other refugees with degrees are allowed to pick oranges, but none are allowed to rebuild their houses. Those who can get out do, but all hope to one day return to their villages in Palestine.
