Papers including the articles of organization and amendments, annual reports to the Wisconsin Secretary of State, statements of changes in officers and directors, and statements of dissolution of selected Menomonie and some Dunn County defunct corporations. Since Wisconsin became a state, domestic corporations have been required to file articles of incorporation with the Secretary of State. In 1905, the statutes began requiring filing of annual reports; failure to do so resulted in forfeiture of corporate privileges and a defunct status. Consequently, prior to 1907, the date a corporation went out of business is not usually known except for those few corporations that filed papers of dissolution.
