A Brazilian-made film that discusses how slaves brought from Africa to Brazil retained their culture in spiritual life, dance, and song and how it took root in the new soil. Included among the many traditions were the language and gods of Yoruba and Jejes from the Republic of Benin. The irony is that today, when Brazilians revisit Africa, they teach the Africans the culture that descendants of the slaves keep alive in Brazil.
