Robert Frost manuscript materials and books collected by Frederick G. Schmidt. Over 40 first, limited or otherwise rare editions of Robert Frost's books, many of which have been signed and inscribed by Frost, are included along with approximately 50 books which contain or discuss Robert Frost's poetry. Included among the manuscript portions of the collection are handwritten pieces of poetry, Christmas cards, other published works by Robert Frost, and fragmentary correspondence.

- Robert Frost was born on March 26, 1875 in San Francisco and attended Dartmouth College and Harvard University. In 1895, he married Elinor White, moved to a farm, and wrote poetry in New Hampshire before eventually moving to England. Frost's first two books were A Boy's Will and North of Boston, and he became a teacher at Amherst, Dartmouth, the University of Michigan, and Middlebury College. He died in Boston on January 29, 1963.
- Frederick Schmidt began collecting Frost's books while in high school. In 1942, while attending Dartmouth University, Schmidt was introduced to Robert Frost by Dartmouth's chief librarian Harold Rugg. Schmidt and Frost bonded over their shared interests, and would frequently discuss their love for poetry and nature. Robert Frost and Frederick Schmidt would remain friends throughout their lives and frequently corresponded with each other.
