The 1st Stravinsky work is a ballet, for solo voices (SATB), chorus, 4 pianos and 6 percussionists. The Russian peasant songs are performed twice, in the original unacc. version, and in the 1954 arr. with 4 horns. The motets and the 5th work are for chorus (SATB), unacc.; the 6th work is for male voices and instrumental ensemble. Tres sacrae cantiones, for unacc. chorus, is a completion by Stravinsky of 3 Gesualdo motets.
The Stravinsky works are preceded by 5 bridal folk songs from the Voronezh district.
