Joseph Fauver grew up on Black Lake later called Black River once the dam was built. The dam was built for logging causing many people to have to leave their homes. Once the logging was done the dam was blown up and the people went back to their home after the bottomland drained. Joseph recalls the flood of 1965 and how it could have been avoidable. He mentions how many dams should be blown up but feels that the dams in La Crosse shouldnʹt be ruined. Joseph tells many stories of his childhood such as the La Crosse highway bridge and Logan Street sewer.
