- Bryan Tyson (1830-1909) was a politician, government clerk, and inventor, of Orange County, North Carolina. Tyson was a Controversialist and Unionist. He opposed abolitionism and secessionism. He manufactured farm implements and after the Civil War engaged in a mail contract business and serviced war pension and mail claims against the government. He lived at Brower's Mill and Carthage, N.C.
