The story of a six-year-old girl whose parents act indifferently toward her, causing her to run away from home. A beggar picks her up on the street after which the authorities find the little girl and take her to an asylum. The beggar, now realizing that his life is meaningful after having met the girl, takes her out of the asylum and returns her to the parents. The parents, having suffered her loss, now become good and loving.
