In 19 Questions, Cage answers 19 questons on a variety of subjects using chance operations to determine the duration of his colorful and often witty answers. A unique opportunity to view the Cagean process of chance in real-time. Fourteen, is a unique performance film in which the position and operation of the cameras, the lighting design, placement of the musicians and the editing process were all subjected to chance operations. In Paying Attention, after agreeing on the duration, Scheffer worked with the video and Culver the audio from an interview with Cage; treating their parts independently. The video and audio were reunited during the editing in the same spirit as Cage/Cunningham music and dance collaborations. In Overpopulation and Art, Cage's spoken performance of his Overpopulation and Art is presented simultaneously with Ryoanji for four voices and percussion. The video was shot at two locations where Cage lived and Scheffer used the graphic score of Ryoanji to track the camera's movements for much of his work.
