With reproduction of t.-p. of the 1st edition, Bracciano, A. Fei, 1624: Vita di Cola di Renzo, tribuno del popolo romano. Scritta in lingua volgare romana di quellla età da Tomao Fiortifiocca ...
The Vita di Cola di Rienzo is a combination of chapters 18, 23, 26 and 27 of an anonymous chronicle of the 14th century composed in the dialect of the Roman territory (dialetto romanesco) The chronicle exists in numerous manuscripts, all of which appear to be more or less imperfect and incorrect. In the greater part of the manuscripts the title reads "Historia di Cola di Rienzo" or "Vita di Cola de Rienzi", although only four chapters of it deal with Rienzo. Other manuscripts have title: Chronico delle cose fatte in Italia, Chronica de Roma, Historie volgari in lingua romana antica etc. The chronicle was published by Muratori usque ad MCCCLIV in his Antiquitates italicae medii aevi, t. III (Milano, 1740) In the 1st edition of the Vita the authorship is wrongly a scribed to Tommaso Fiortifiocca, whose name appears in some manuscripts. The designation of the 4 chapters as so many "libri" in the 1st edition has been retained in the present edition.
