King Henry IV has deposed Richard II to claim the throne of England but feels deeply troubled by his actions. Is God punishing Henry for Richard's murder by giving him Ha-ho spends drunken evenings carousing with Falstaff - a son? Would not Hotspur be a more appropriate successor? Shakespeare's Henry IV, Part 1 contains themes of honor and kingship, but it may be the subtext of difficult father-son relationships that intrigues viewers the most. This production, performed at the reconstructed Globe Theatre, features Roger Allam, winner of the Olivier Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Falstaff. With Oliver Cotton (King Henry IV), Sam Crane (Hotspur), and Jamie Parker (Prince Hal). Directed by Dominic Dromgoole.
