The Society of American Archivists (SAA) is the oldest and largest national professional association of archivists in North America. The collection contains materials from the organization of the SAA in 1936 to present day. The main record groups document the activities of the SAA officers; councilors; executive directors; the editorial offices of the American Archivist; and SAA committees, roundtables, sections, and task forces. Although the bulk of the collection consists of paper records, the history of the SAA is also documented in a wide variety of other record formats, including photographs, microforms, cassette tapes, and publications.

-- Accession 2010-018: additions of Task Force on Electronic Publishing Chair's records (2001-2003), and Working Group on Electronic Publishing Chair's records (2003-2006) (.4 cubic ft., 1 box).

-- Accession 2014-035: additions of records from Edie Hedlin's term as president of SAA, dating from 1993 to 1994. The bulk of the materials pertain to the appointment of the Archivist of the US. Also included are Council materials and various other files pertaining to SAA presidential matters (1.4 cubic ft., 2 boxes).

-- Accession 2015-024: additions of Manuscript Repositories Section records, 2009 and undated (.1 cubic ft., 1 folder).

-- Accession 2015-038: additions of an Introduction to Archival Security manual and some other materials pertaining to archival security, from circa 1976-1977 (.2 cubic ft., 1 box).

-- Accession 2017-005: additions of International Archival Affairs Committee records, 1998, and International Archival Affairs Roundtable records, 1999-2014 (.2 cubic ft., 1 box).

-- Accession 2017-009: additions of Archival History Section materials, dating from 2014 to 2017 (.1 cubic ft., 1 folder).

-- Accession 2017-023: additions of Committee on Automated Records and Techniques (CART) records dating from 1981 to 1993 (.2 cubic ft., 1 folder).

-- Accession 2018-005: additions of Council minutes dating from May 2006 to February 2009 (1.4 cubic ft., 2 boxes).

-- Accession 2018-006: additions of materials from John Fleckner consisting of Committee on Goals and Priorities records dating from 1985 to 1987; various other committee and task force files dating from 1975 to 2004; and some additional SAA files dating from 1974 to 2000 (1 cubic ft., 1 box).

-- Accession 2018-008: additions of records from the Committee on Automated Records and Techniques (CART), which also existed as the Task Force on Automated Records and Techniques, dating from 1978 to 1993 (.8 cubic ft., 2 boxes).

-- Accession 2018-009: additions of records from Teresa Brinati, Director of Publishing, dating from 1984 to 2014, consisting of American Archives Month posters and brochures, annual reports, brochures, decals, awards ceremony programs, ballots, directories of consultants and members, Task Force on Electronic Publications materials, press releases, American Archivist editor materials, and Publications Board files (1.4 cubic ft., 2 boxes; 1 oversize folder).
