Mazmur, Thomas, Yokim, and Suryani are expecting a substitute teacher in an old airfield in one village of Papua, but the teacher never shows up. This condition makes them learn and study from the nature and some people like Reverend Samuel, Doctor Fatimah, Uncle Ucok, and Uncle Jolex. One day Mazmur's father, Blasius has a fight with Joseph, Agnes' father who lives in neighboring village. Blasius is killed during the fight, and the conflict rises up. Blasius' brother, Michael who lives in Jakarta decides to come back to Papua with his wife, Vina. He tries to solve and reconciliate the villagers who have conflict peacefully. But his little brother, Alex, who is also Blasius' brother doesn't like his idea. Alex chooses war to solve the problem.
