12 year old Nandu was living in Amritsar with his widowed mom, Paro. nandu enjoyed his childhood with his childhood friends Farida and Kamli. Kamli's father became ill and they had to settle down in Ambala. 10 years later Nandu got the news that Kamli's dad has passed away and Kamli will come back to Amritsar with her mom. Initially Nandu and Kamli didn't recognize each otehr and eventually fall in love. Kamli's uncle turns down Paro's proposal for Nandu's marriage with Kamli on the ground that Nandu is unemployed. Disheartened Nandu leaves the town and joins the armed forces. On his return to Amritsar, he gets the message that Kamli got married to someone else. Few days later, while leaving for the war front, Nandu comes face to face with Kamli. He is shocked to know that Kamli's husband is none other than Havildar Ramsingh of his unit. Both of them depart after Kamli says something to Nandu. On the war front Nandu saves Havildar Ramsingh. When Ramsingh inquires about the smae, Nandu replies only in three.
