Koryŏjang: A widow, accompanied by her young son Gu-ryeong, moves to a rural village to wed a local man. The widow's new husband already has ten sons from his first marriage. The village shaman prophesies that all ten brothers will be killed by Gu-ryeong's hand. Thirty years later, Gu-ryeong and the brothers clash.

Ch'ungnyŏ: Myung-ja (Yun Yeo-jong), a schoolgirl traumatized by the loss of her "father", is coerced by her mother into working as a barmaid in order to help put her older brother through college. The inexperienced girl falls into the hands of the shrewd proprieter and madam (Park Jeong-ja). At the club, Myung-ja is introduced to Mr. Kim (Namgung Won), a customer suffering from impotency and henpecked by a domineering wife.
