The writer is not named; the trip is a driving trip from upstate New York to California by a southern route and home by a northern route, May 3 through early June 1937. The other members of the party are not named. She comments on the weather, miles driven, sights, and other trip details. The entries are brief and only fill a third of the book. At the beginning she lists the states traveled through. The writer also lists at the end expenses for gas (place and gallons), accommodations, food, and admission tickets. The diary ends May 30 with a snowstorm in Wyoming, but the expense log continues to the end of the return trip. One autograph is recorded: Oliva Dionne, the father of the quintuplets, June 4, 1937. Pasted in at end are admission tickets and stickers. On back flyleaf in pencil is printed Katie White.
