Title page transposed: imprint date appears after Hodgkinson's name.
Based on an earlier work by Roger of Wendover also known as "Flores historiarum", probably based in turn on an earlier St. Albans chronicle. Cf. Vaughan, Richard.
"A composite chronicle, containing the St. Albans compilation to the end of 1188, Roger de Wendover's chronicle, 1189-1235, both revised by Paris, and his own work from 1235 to 1259."--Dict. nat. biog.
ESTC gives editor as Matthew Parker.
The first leaf bears half-title, "Matthæi Parisiensis opera", on recto and portrait of the author, signed "T. Cecill sculp:", on verso.
The Vitae duorum Offarum et viginti trium Abbatum Sancti Albani has special t.p. and separate paging, with imprint: Londini : Excudebat Milo Flesher, prostant apud Cornelium Bee & Laurentium Sadler ..., 1639. The authorship of this work is uncertain; only part, if any, is by Paris. The Additamenta also has a special t.p. with imprint: Londini : Excusum typis Mil. Flesher, 1639.
The continuation ascribed to Rishanger (p. 989-1009) covers the period from 1259 to 1273.
Error in paging: 2nd group of paging, 737-738 omitted.
