Simon Laub, a professor of literature, his wife Christa, a real estate agent, and their son Felix are an average middle class German working family living in a quiet and safe suburb of Berlin. When Felix gets into trouble with a young turk named Can, things begin to change for the Laub family. Upset by Can's attacks on the family, Simon drops his normally tolerant attitude and humiliates Can which leads to a viscious eruption of violence and anger.
