Single volume of bound, handwritten notes by a student from Jean-Joseph Jacotot's chemistry class in Dijon over the years 1799 and 1800. The notes are roughly divided into three parts: animal, vegetable and mineral substances and their properties. For example, animal substances include bone and urine, vegetable substances include resins and colorants (ex. indigo), and mineral substances include salts, metals, acids and crystals. Some very fine illustrations of crystal structures are included, as are two pages detailing various experimental apparatus. Main body of notes written between penciled-in margins. Additional comments, in same hand, written in margins. Handwriting is exceptionally clear throughout.
