The compiler of the scrapbook is unknown. The book used for a scrapbook is a copy of "The joust or tournament : an opera in two acts" by G. Estabrook [pseud. of Caroline Augusta Clowry] published in 1885. Articles are pasted over many of the pages of the score. The scrapbook was mostly compiled ca. 1900-1911 or 12, by an unknown person. Included is a program for a concert at the University Armory, Madison, Wis., January 22, 1906 by violinist Jan Kubelik. Laid in is a 24 page lecture or article, holograph, titled "National music" on letterhead of Ward Munroe coal, Baraboo, Wisconsin.
The author of the opera, Caroline Augusta "Gussie" Estabrook Clowry, was born near Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Her father was active in early Wisconsin politics.
