The journal began as a newsletter in August 1983, and was published in England. In November 2000, the then-editor, Mark Adler stepped down, and Phil Knight became the editor. At this point, publication moved to the United States. The first issue in the U.S. was in 2001. Cf. publisher 4/2/15.
