The resident population of the Region increased from 1.67 million persons in 1963 to 1.81 million persons in 1990. Clearly evident on this map is a decentralization of regional populati
the Cities of Kenosha, Milwaukee, and Racine to suburban and rural areas of the Region. At the county level, the most notable changes in the relative distribution of the regional popula
in Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties. Between 1963 and 1990, Milwaukee County's share of the regional population decreased from 65 to 53 percent, while Waukesha County's share in
11 to 17 percent.
