Summary

• Five pickups from the Kasper Construction Company are parked on display in front of 1203 North 16th Street in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, probably during or just after the World War II years. Three of the trucks are tentatively identified as a 1936 General Motors, a 1936 Chevrolet with a Lincoln welder in the back, and a 1937 Chevrolet. (Other photographs from this series show vehicles from the 1940s.) The truck on the far end has on its flat bed a small construction crane with its boom extended. Kasper Construction Company, general contractors and builders specializing in excavation, masonry, carpentry, and concrete work, was listed at this address in Manitowoc city directories from 1938 through 1949. By 1951 the business had moved to 1604 North 8th Street. The brick-faced house with a large canvas awning on the front was the residence of John L. Kasper, president of the company. As indicated by the sign behind the trucks, the company office was also located on the premises.
