lcolin_ them over.
The matter of trading a month next Sring for a sim1lar oEriod
later was suggested at the 3urvey,but after discussion with iIr.Fcxtee it
seemed that this might be asking too much of the Quail Corrittee, who are In
a hurry to get the final report of the Investigation finished and published.
..iso there is a robability of delay in etting the various ,,arts of thle
regort together, edited and through the ress, and my ,resence might be
ecessary. .e are obligated to coupLte the Georgia job to the ;atisfaction
of the contributers to the work, and it seemed unwise to a vn
tentative arrangement that might imake tLs impossible.
I_ have looked over the draft of "eed for an Crnitolcal sacratory....
..nd think it very well thougv c-i.tand ti:ely.Maturally, I think if such
labratory materializes i ,a.rt of cut Department of Agriculture,uh re
agecialists in many lines are already at work, and there it would have a
likahood of success. The inbreeding roblem alone needs a ieriod of intensive
research and ex erimenting.I have made a few marginal notations and aia
returni4ng this aper to you,and ho :e that something comes of it.h e whole
fi.eld is jractically untouched and certainly needs attention.
-.-::ant to thank you for the use of the book 'hichI thoroughly
,njoyod, and for the check in payment for services not includod in my

f tf e quail study jroject,I beg to remain,
