RESOLUTI ON 
 
                               of the 
                      SEATTLE ROD AND GUN CLUB 
           RECONMENDING THE REMOVAL OF THE GLAUCOUS WINGED GULLS 
           AND JAEGERS FROM THE LIST OF PROTECTED BIRDS AND THAT 
 
           ACTION BE TAKEN TO CONTROL THEIR DESTRUCTION OF BIRD 
 
           LIFE ON THE NESTING GROUNDS. 
 
 
 
 
                WHEREAS, sportsmen and other lovers of bil4 life have besoms

 alarmed at the rapid decrease in the numbers of ducks and other waterfowl.

 
                WHEREAS, the reasons for such deorease have been attributed

 to various causes, such as drainage projects, droughts and guns of hunters,

 
                WEREAS, the Seattle Rod and Gun Club is of the belief that

 attention should be first directed to conditions existing on the breeding

 
 grou.nds of said waterfowl. 
                WHRFJSA. we believe the principal breeding grounds of ducks

 In the western states lie within the Coastal waters of Alaska and the rivers

 
 and tundras of the Arctic. 
                WhEREAS, the Seattle Rod and Gun Club, an organization of

representative sportsmen, is possessed of authoritive information that the

ravages of the glauoous winged gulls and jaegers on the eggs and young of

 
said waterfol result in a tremendous loss of bird life and believes this
a 
 
source of greater lose than all other causes oombined. 
 
               MERES, hitherto, we know of no effort made by the United 
States Biological Surve to investigate this situation and the public 
 
generally is In ignoranoe concerning the same. 
 
               NO'W TH-EREORE, be it resolved as follows: 
 
               I. That this organization go upon record as opposing the
