    Dear Mr. Leopold:

There are bobwhite quail in every western
border county of Kansas at present. Do not know
how far west they originally extended. In the south-
west border counties, a good many of the small blue
    quail are present.

I have seen fine coveys of bobwhite in
central Idaho at an elevation of 5000 feet.

                             Sincerely yours,
