            Mr.Aldo Leopold,
            c/o Dr.Henry B.4ard,
            SUniv.of Illinois,
            Urbana, Iil.

            Dear teopold;

Your letters of the Z3rd amd 26th reoeived.l have wired
to Dr.
Chapman ( the day I received your wire) advising him that I would
be glad to
have Mr.King come any time during the Easter vacation.I found
  r.
3,Errington here on my return from South Carolina last night. As
he will be here
several lays I am leaving him to his own devices largely until
Mr.
King arriveswhen I hope to got out with them a couple of days,

Errington impresses me as a first class fellow who has seen life
from several
angles, and I believe he will prove O.K. I am glad that he will
be here
several days so that I will have a chance to get welil acquainted
with
           him.

I would just as soon that you would not push the Mississippi
rdatter
until after July nlaess it becomes evident that there will not
be much to
SN' do in the middle States.I was sorry to note that Michigan has

rwithdrawn. It is becoming increasingly evident that I will have
great
difficulty in drawing my work to a close here by July Ist.So many
people
have visited usall with very good reasons, that I have been rushed
for the
last two months.Add to this a very heavy corrospondence, requests
for
help locally and at a distance, and you can see how hard it is
to write the
SreportnThe motion picture matter will complicate things considerably
for
x if it materializes it will be only right for me to do all I can to
wake
it a success. As all of these activities are worth while and toward
a
common eand,l am not discouraged. But July first is approaching
by leaps and
            bounds.

'with further reference to l5ississippi.I gather from your
letter of
the 23rd,that you are condidering Lobdel for the Mississippi
quail study
rather than for wild turkey work, and are considering him mainly
in
connection with the Coastal Experiment Station project.lf it proves
desirable
to get this under weigh soon it might prove desirable to do something

towards it right after July ist and before coming to Washington.

I have no comments to make on the memorandum agreement
submitted by
Chapman.! am keeping this and the paper covering Kings qualifications

for further study, but will return them within the next few days.King's

° . ! record surely looks good, and should fit him for the ruffed
grouse work.
EHoping that you will find the work pleasant in Illinois,I am
                                           Sincf~ yours,,,
