• Fridolin Schindler and family stand outside of Schindler's Hotel on the corner of Second Street and Fifth Avenue in New Glarus, Wisconsin. The hotel provided lodgings and served meals. This photo dates to earlier than 1913, probably late 1800s. In recent years, this building has housed various restaurants. Standing in the street, left to right: Fridolin Schindler, the builder and owner of the hotel; Apollonia Marty (daughter of Barbara Schindler Marty); Fred Schindler (son of Fridolin and Rosina); Ellen Streiff (daughter of Peter S. and Elsbeth Streiff); Rosina Speich Schindler (Fridolin's wife and mother of the four girls to the right); Barbara Schindler Marty (wife of Henry Marty and mother of Appolonia); Rosa Schindler Gehrig; Elsbeth Schindler Streiff (wife of Peter S. Streiff and mother of Ellen Streiff); Kate Schindler Frehner; Rosina's mother (in apron). The woman on the porch at the right is Fridolin's mother. The addition to the hotel was built as quarters for her.
