JOURNALISM IN SPAIN AND SPANISH AMERICA. Yr; 2cr. A study of
the current periodicals of the Spanish-speaking world, with supple-
mentary readings and lectures to establish a background of the actual
social, economic, and political conditions in the Hispanic countries.
Attention will be devoted to journalistic methods and technique. Pre-
requisite: Spanish 10b or equivalent. Primarily for students in jour-

INTERMEDIATE CONVERSATION AND COMPOSITION. Yr; 2 cr. Prerequi-
site: Spanish 10b, or 20, or equivalent. Not open to students with
three years of college Spanish. The regular third-year Spanish course,
recommended to all students, is Spanish 21. For training in con-
versation and composition, L and S students with two years of college
Spanish should enter Spanish 25, and with three years of college

SPANISH AND PORTUGUESE MASTERPIECES IN TRANSLATION (Comp. Lit.
55). Yr; 2er. A review of the significant traits of Hispanic litera-
tures, and of their relationship to other literatures, from the origins
up to the present time; illustrated with selected representative mas-
terpieces. Lectures, class discussions, and supplementary readings.
No language prerequisite. Does not carry credit towards the major
