INTRODUCTION TO SOCIAL CASE Work. I; 2 cr. with 100 hours of field
work at local Public Welfare Association or Juvenile Court, or 1 cr.
without field work. The use of the first interview and sources such
as relatives, employers, schools. The methods of social diagnosis.
Prerequisites: Sociclogy 177 or concurrent registration; senior or
graduate standing and consent of instructor. Students have the op-
tion of taking Sociology 147 or 148, but may not take both courses.

INTRODUCTION TO GROUP Work. I; 2 cr. with 100 hours of field work
at Neighborhood House, Y. W. C. A., Y. M. C. A., Boy Scouts, etc.,
or 1 cr. without field work. The importance of the group. The mean-
ing and methods of socialization. Legal and social questions as they
affect the foreigner. Prerequisites: Sociology 177 or concurrent reg-
istration; senior or graduate standing and consent of instructor. Stu-
dents have the option of taking Sociology 147 or 148, but may not take

CHILD WELFARE. II; 2 cr. Proportion of children in the population;
the dependent, delinquent, defective child, his problems and the com-
munity’s methods of treatment. Prerequisites: Senior standing and
consent of instructor. 2:30-4:30 M. Miss Yerxa.

PRINCIPLES OF SOCIAL CASE WorK. II; 2 cr. with 150 hours of field
work at local Public Welfare Association or Juvenile Court, or 1 cr.
without field work. Case-work treatment of executive and leadership
types. The social workers’ principles of interviewing. Types of
treatment given the unmarried mother, deserted family, transient
men, etc. Prerequisite: Sociology 147. Students have the option of
taking Sociology 164 or 165, but may not take both courses. 3:30 Tu.

PRINCIPLES OF GROUP WorK. II; 2 cr. with 150 hours of field work

the settlement, the school community center, the open forum, boy and
girl scouts. Methods and organization of agencies working with
groups. Prerequisite: Sociology 148. Students have the option of

SocIAL AGENCIES AND SOCIAL LEGISLATION. I; 2 cr. Conceptions and
types of social work. Statutes and court decisions as they affect the
social worker. Prerequisite: Sociology 141 or consent of instructor.

SOCIAL ORGANIZATION AND ADMINISTRATION. II; 2 er. Typical ex-
periments in community organization such as the public health and
settlement movements, the federation of social agencies, ete. Theories
