CURRICULA IN AGRICULTURE

Students of the Long and Middle Courses must take 16 to 18 credits
each semester, exclusive of military science, physical education, or band
instruction, except during the first semester of the freshman year, when
only 14 credits are required. Electives may be added to make a total of
20 credits, provided the student has received a grade of at least B in each
subject for the preceding semester. All students, including seniors, must
carry at least 16 credits each semester unless excused by the Executive
Committee. Before being graduated from either of these courses, the stu-
dent must have had farm experience satisfactory to the department in
which he majors.

AGRICULTURAL OPTIONS

Freshmen in the Middle Course. and sophomores in the Long Course
must choose two courses from the following group. Only one subject in a
given department can be counted as an option in meeting this requirement,
but subjects not chosen as options may later be taken as electives.

THE LONG COURSE

LEADING TO THE DEGREE OF BACHELOR OF SCIENCE (AGRICULTURE)

The general requirement for graduation in the Long Course is 133
credits and 1383 grade-points in addition to convocation and military sci-
ence, physical education, or band instruction. At the beginning of the
sophomore year the student elects either Curriculum A or B and chooses as
adviser a member of the department in which he expects to major. The
major consists of a minimum of 15 or a maximum of 25 credits, but certain
courses outside a given department may be counted in the major if re-
ported in advance to the faculty. Changes in the major may be made at
any time up to the close of registration for the first semester of the senior
year. A thesis, if required, must represent some phase of the student’s work
in the field of his major, for which a total of 4 credits will be allowed. A
minimum of 10 credits of electives during the junior or senior years shall be
taken in the College of Letters and Science, including at least 6 credits in
English, philosophy, psychology, sociology, political science, or history.

Students in the Long Course who wish to qualify for the University
Teachers’ Certificate are referred to page 84 for a statement of the require-
ments.
