Following the junior year in the College of Agriculture, the profes-
sional course consists of 27 months in residence in the Nurses’ Dormitory.
During this period the student has instruction in medicine, surgery, and
principles of nursing, ward practice in the wards and out-patient depart-
ment of the hospital, and practical training in public health nursing. The
residential course is divided into four half years of academic and profes-
sional education and three additional months of special training. In each

half year there are one semester of four months of academic and ward work,
six weeks (52 hours per week) of ward or field work, and two weeks of
vacation. A complete outline of this work may be found under School of
Nursing, page 371.
