ELEMENTS OF ACCOUNTING. I, II; 3 cr. The theories of general
financial accounting with problems illustrating their application.
Particular attention to the preparation and analysis of profit and
loss statements and balance sheets. Prerequisites: Economics 8a

ADVANCED ACCOUNTING PROBLEMS. I; 2 er. Theories underlying
advanced financial accounting with problems illustrating their appli-
cation. The more important subjects are amortization, capitaliza-
tion, accounts of receivers and bankrupts, statements of affairs and
deficiency accounts, real estate development accounts, executors’ ac-
counts. Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C in Economics 8b. Lab.
fee $1.50. 8-10 MW. Mr. Elwell, Mr. Gibson.

Cost ACCOUNTING. I; 2 cr. Theories underlying cost accounting,
its relationship to financial books, accounting for materials, labor
and indirect expense, and treatment of selling and administrative
expenses. Prerequisite: Minimum grade of B in Economics 8b.
Lab. fee $1.50. 8-10 TT. Mr. Gibson.

ACCOUNTS OF CONSOLIDATIONS AND INCOME TAXES. II; 2 cr. - Ac-
counts of amalgamations, mergers, and holding companies; consoli-
dated balance sheets and profit and loss statements. Study of, and
problems based upon, the federal and Wisconsin income tax laws.
Prerequisite: Minimum grade of B in Economics 8b. Lab. fee $1.50.
8-10 TT. Mr. Gibson.

AUDITING. II; 2 cr. The general principles of auditing, including
a detailed study of different kinds of audits, the preparation of re-
ports, and the consideration of special points in different classes of
audits. Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C in Economics 8b. Lab.
fee $1.50. 8-10 MW. Mr. Elwell.

ANALYSIS OF FINANCIAL Reports. I; 1 cr. Analysis of corporation
reports with particular reference to statement structure, meaning of
accounts, and ratios. Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C in Eco-
nomics 8b. 9 F. Mr. Elwell.

ACCOUNTING SYSTEMS. II; 2 cr. The general principles of construc-
tive accounting and the designing of systems for various industries.
Each student must design a complete and practicable accounting
system for some industry. Prerequisites: Upper-group status and
minimum grade of B in Economics 8b. 10 TT. Mr. Elwell.
