18 THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN

As several hundred students apply for work at the opening of the
school year, competition is keen. It is impossible to place all of the ap-
plicants at once, and often many must wait several days or weeks before
finding suitable employment. Only those who are willing to do whatever is
available can expect to earn their expenses. As far as possible, applica-
tions for employment are filled in order; but as the kinds of work available
are of a widely varied nature, those students who are best qualified for the
work must, in fairness to the employer, be considered first.

Students who desire further information in regard to self-support

should write to the University Student Employment Office, Union Annex,
772 Langdon Street, Madison.

be applicable to the “average” student, the following table may suggest
the expenses which various individuals might be expected to incur during

Madison, and non-resident tuition fee.
