MINORS IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION 101

Any one of the minors enumerated below may be elected by candidates
for the University Teachers’ Certificate under the following provisions:
(1) to receive credit for starred courses in physical education included in
any given minor the entire minor must be completed; (2) the total number
of credits required for graduation with the certificate is, for students
taking a minor in physical education, 128, of which not more than 12 may
be in physical education; (3) this total may be attained either by work
done during an additional period of residence, or by carrying 17 credits
each semester, provided, however, that such a program must include at
least one starred course in physical education; (4) practical work, which
is required but which gives no academic credit, will be arranged at the
discretion of the department according to the student’s needs.

FOR MEN

1. ATHLETIC COACHING; 12 credits. This minor is offered to qualify
men to meet the demands of high schools and colleges for men to coach
and supervise athletics in connection with the teaching of some academic
subject. Practical work which is required, but given no academic credit,
is to be arranged at the discretion of the department according to the
student’s needs.

2. GYMNASTICS OR FORMAL PHYSICAL EDUCATION; 12 credits. This
minor is intended to meet the needs of those students who wish to combine
the teaching of physical education with their major subject. Practical
work which is required, but given no academic credit, is to be arranged at
the discretion of the department according to the student’s needs.
