~birds, the wood or summer duck. 
SMr. Nicoll is authority for the statement 
that a huge alligator measuring 11 feet 
from snoot to tip of tail recently killed in 
the southen part of Craven County had 
made a meal of 8 young wood ducks. This 
number was taken from the stomach of 
the suarian when he was cut open.
