Extract from Annal Game Report, Yellowstone National Park, June 21, 1934,
P. 3.
"About twenty-five salt grounds weremaintained during the past winter

for the game. It was found that a coarse crystal salt it preferred by most

game animals. Elk, moose, deer, and sheep take salt very readily. In some

cases elk have taken as much as .2 of a pound per month. Me use of salt

in controlling game movements has several possibilities which may be made
use
of in distributing wild animals over the range. Buffalo take more salt than

other animals."
