A Yellow Lahu (Lahu Shi) mother and young son stand near the landing strip at Chommok in Houa Khong Province

  • January 3, 1973
  • A Yellow Lahu (Lahu Shi) mother with her son are at the edge of the landing strip near the Akha village of Chommok (LS-345, PD 8627) in Houa Khong Province. She is probably waiting for a ride on one of the aircraft that periodically lands at this Short take-off and landing (STOL) airstrip (partially seen behind her). Of note are the large tube-shaped ear plugs that she wears as earrings.
